The Bluebell Railway

On Saturday we drove into Sussex to spend our day on the Bluebell railway.  We had a little person with us and as he is a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine, as most little boys are, we thought this would be a perfect day that we could all enjoy.

The railway runs approximately 11 miles between East Grinsted and Sheffield Park and a round trip would take you around an hour and three quarters.  We jumped off half way for lunch and to explore, which worked out well as we had the whole experience of the "are we there yet?", "I'm bored!" and "I'm hungry" Oh how different it is being on the receiving end of those cries.

I fell in love with the old fashioned stations.  There is so much detail to be admired from the old carriages being used as shops or cafes to the vintage luggage on the side of the platform.

The boys on the other hand much preferred the engines and the trains themselves.

It was the perfect day out for all three of us.

  2. My friends little boy is into Thomas and the trains so I'm sure he'd love this. That said where I am there's the old train line that runs a service we can easily go to.

    1. We keep meaning to visit that one too, it's not too far from us. I've debated whether it would be better to visit when there is an event on or is it going to be too busy then, hmmm. We'll get there one day x x

  3. Fun! Bryn was a real train fan but it never caught on with Afton or Camden. However, all three would gladly take a ride on a train if it was offered- how wonderful to be riding the rails, visiting cute little stations and enjoying a tea break along the way ( Is that your nephew, by the way?? He's adorable!)
